The 8300 series of vans (8300 to 8313) were built at Islington Workshops they were designed to replace older timber brake vans which were approaching their end of service life.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThese vans had two goods compartments and working area for the Guard, that included a seat and desk, a stove and toilet facilities. There were also two roof mounted periscopes within the Guards section.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eOriginally finished in Regal Red with a black roof, this scheme was simplified to Regal Red all over.
