Kato, 2017-7, Steam Locomotive C62 Tokaido 4-6-4, N Scale

Kato will make an N-scale model of Steam Locomotive C62 Tokaido Line which drew Limited Express “Tsubame” and “Hato”, etc.

Steam Locomotive C62 appeared as a large locomotive to pull passenger trains on main lines in 1948, designed by combining the boiler of D52 on Hudson type axle arrangement 2-C-2 (meaning 2 leading wheel + 3 driving wheel + 2 trailing wheel axles). After appearance of limited expresses “Tsubame (swallow)” and “Hato”(pigeon), the locomotive was selected to draw the expresses with the head marks displayed and the run board painted white on the edges. Among them, some were in special paint schemes such as No. 2 locomotive which was featured with deflectors edged with stainless steel and added with swallow sign so as to be nicknamed “swallow angel”.
