Kato, 2017-6, Steam Locomotive C62 4-6-4 Joban Line for "Yuzuru", N Scale

Kato will make an N-scale model of Steam Locomotive C62 Joban Line famous as the locomotive which drew “Yuzuru”. When the sleeper limited express “Yuzuru” was newly put in operation in 1965 just prior to the full electrification of the Joban line, C62 belonging to Taira engine depot was put in charge of drawing the train between Taira (current Iwaki) and Sendai. C62, in service on Tohoku/Joban Lines, maintained the relatively original shape. Since 1963 when the AC electrification was in progress on the Joban line, a sealed beam sub-light was added as a reserve just in case the headlight burned out as it is dangerous to replace the light bulb under the AC electrified catenary.
