Kato 3038 EF58 61 N Scale
EF58 61 was designated from the ordering stage in July, 1953 as a locomotive exclusively for use on imperial trains. The body was painted in a deep crimson color known
as Tame-iro and featured stainless steel decorative bands along with unpainted, polished underframe components, giving it a beautifully refined appearance. Throughout the Showa era, it pulled imperial trains on numerous occasions and was active in various events, such as hauling the Orient Express '88 in 1988, making it an icon of the
Japanese postwar era. It can be compared to European electric locomotives like the DB’s E10.12 (Rheingold) or UK Royal Train locomotives, and its prestigious history
makes it the perfect showpiece!
